WORK CARRIED OUT

The existing fire alarm system comprised 11 networked panels and over 2,400 field devices, all of which had become obsolete. With unsupported software, a full replacement was required during the summer break to meet the September intake. Compass Complete Solutions Limited provided a comprehensive solution, integrating electrical services and CCTV alongside the new fire system, all within a strict nine-week programme.

PROBLEMS FACED

Maintaining continuous fire alarm coverage was essential throughout the works. To manage the tight timescales, the system was replaced loop by loop, starting at the admin building where the head-end panel was located. Each building was upgraded in sequence while keeping the overall network fully operational.

END RESULT

All 11 fire panels, one repeater panel, 1,336 detectors, 187 manual call points, and 907 sounder beacons were successfully replaced within the shutdown period. Each building was tested on completion, followed by full network testing. All BAFE certification and system handover were delivered within the planned nine weeks.
